1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using BookShock.ai ("the Service"), operated by Basi6 International LLC, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.
2. Description of Service
BookShock.ai is an AI-powered book marketplace and price comparison platform. Our services include:
- Book search and price comparison across multiple sellers and platforms
- AI-assisted book recommendations and shopping via Tez, our AI assistant
- A multi-vendor marketplace where independent sellers can list and sell books
- Order management, tracking, and customer support
3. User Accounts
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
4. Marketplace Terms
For Buyers:
- Prices displayed are sourced from third-party sellers and may change without notice
- BookShock.ai facilitates transactions but individual sellers are responsible for fulfillment, shipping, and returns for marketplace orders
- External price comparisons (Amazon, AbeBooks, ThriftBooks, etc.) redirect to third-party websites and are subject to their terms
- BookShock.ai does not guarantee the accuracy of pricing, availability, or book condition descriptions from third-party sources
For Sellers:
- Sellers must provide accurate descriptions of book condition, edition, and availability
- Sellers are responsible for timely shipping and handling of returns
- BookShock.ai charges no platform transaction fees beyond Stripe's standard processing fee (2.9% + $0.30)
- Seller accounts are subject to review and may be suspended for policy violations
- Payouts are processed automatically via Stripe Connect according to the configured schedule
5. AI Assistant (Tez)
Tez is an AI-powered assistant that helps with book search, recommendations, and support. By using Tez, you acknowledge:
- Tez provides recommendations based on available data and may not always be perfectly accurate
- Chat conversations may be logged for service improvement and support purposes
- Tez may recommend purchases from external platforms when they offer better value for the customer
- Tez is not a substitute for professional advice (legal, financial, or otherwise)
6. Payments
All payments are processed securely through Stripe Connect. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. We accept major credit/debit cards. Refunds are processed according to individual seller policies and applicable consumer protection laws.
7. Intellectual Property
The BookShock.ai name, logo, website design, and AI technology are the property of Basi6 International LLC. Book cover images, descriptions, and metadata are sourced from publishers, ISBNdb, and public databases and remain the property of their respective owners. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our platform without written permission.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from our platform without authorization
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes
- Post false or misleading book listings or reviews
- Attempt to manipulate pricing, search results, or seller ratings
9. Limitation of Liability
BookShock.ai and Basi6 International LLC are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Basi6 International LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@bookshock.ai. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
